Signs of Bed Bugs
Do you have a suspicion, or maybe you are worried, that bed bugs may have
invaded your home?..or even your bed? There are some very noticeable bed
bug signs to look out for to know for sure. However, once you know you
have a problem there are some very effective ways of getting rid of these
little creatures quickly. There are several different signs of bed
bugs you should be aware of. The most apparent one will be when you
wake up in the morning to discover itchy swollen lumps on your skin.
Although in some cases, this might not become apparent for maybe days
later. These itchy lumps are caused by bed bugs feeding on your blood
during the night, and secreting their saliva into your skin where they
have bitten you. Despite the fact that these sores can be extremely itchy
they may even become infected if scratched.
Other signs of bed
bugs may be harder to spot. You may have the opportunity to witness
one of the bugs themselves, although because they are nocturnal and hide
away during daylight hours this is unlikely. They are also very tiny,
although they are visible to the naked eye. You may also be able to spot
the faecal waste deposited by these creatures, which will appear as small
dark spots on your mattress or sheets.
These bed bugs signs will most likely require the use of a magnifying
glass. Whilst searching for the bugs and their faecal deposits you may
also notice some other indicators of a presence of bed bugs. These insects
breed very rapidly, and wherever you find them you will find their eggs.
These are very difficult to spot with the naked eye, but under
magnification will appear to be white in color. Another feature of bed
bugs is that they will cast their skins while growing. Again, although
very difficult to spot these will confirm your fears that you have bed
bugs.
If bed bugs are present in your home then you might discover spots of
blood on your bedding. This can occur for several reasons. Firstly, a bite
inflicted by a bed bug will continue to seep blood after the creature has
departed. Secondly, the bed bug may have engorged itself so much that it
will have to secrete some of the blood it has just ingested. Finally, you
may inadvertently have crushed one of these creatures in bed at night,
causing their blood filled bodies to crack open.
The first stage to eradicating bed bugs from your home is to determine the
nature of the problem. By knowing which bed bugs signs to look out for you
will be able to identify them early on, which is crucial to being able to
overcome the problem and prevent a serious infestation developing.
